The Cubby House by Sunni

“45 minutes!” called mum.
“Only 45 minutes!?!?!” I called back.
“Well, come on” said Robert, “We only have 45 minutes.”

We walked outside and into the cubby house.
It was massive and hi-tech, like a science lab with a turret on the roof and a large, hexagonal window.
We were working on an internet projector that could give us 4 bars of free internet anywhere in the world!!!

After a few minutes of pressing buttons and flicking switches, Robert walked over to a control panel with only one button labeled ACTIVATE INTERNET and pressed it. Nothing happened.
I walked over and asked “What's wrong?”
“It’s not working” answered Robert grumpily.
So, I pressed the button. Once, twice, three times.

Then we noticed a strange green glow in the sky outside the window.
It was coming closer.
It was getting brighter and greener the closer it came.
Until there was a massive CRASH!!!!
I was blinded for a few seconds, then out of the shattered window I saw a massive metal shape with glowing blue, green and purple lights.
People in black suits were jumping out of the colorful metal spaceship.

I looked around for Robert and to my horror, he was out cold and locked in a cage!!! I slammed my fist onto a blue button labeled WEAPONS.
The turret gave a feeble splutter and emitted some green sparks.
I entered the storeroom and pulled out a giant electromagnet that we had previously built to make our iPads come to us from wherever they were.

I pressed the reverse button on the magnet and then the ON button.
Immediately the alien spaceship started to be pushed up up into the sky
Robert’s cage was ripped apart and he tumbled onto the ground.
The alien troops were soaring up into the sky along with the spaceship.

5 minutes later… I was walking through the wreckage of the garden when I saw a silver shape with green, blue and purple lights on it. On closer inspection I saw that it was a cube. I placed it on the desk next to the internet projector, which had miraculously survived the impact. I turned on my iPad to see that I had 4 bars of free internet!

Mum called “your 45 minutes is up, boys”.
This woke Robert up.
“Did you have fun?” asked mum.
“I never realized how much can happen in 45 minutes”. I replied.

We loved hearing you read your story to us Sunni. We really loved your expression and how your problem was resolved without you even realising how. Mum and Dad :)
