THE MUDDLED UP MATES by STELLA
It was 4 weeks before the summer holidays and my best friend Jake and I were so desperate to build a cool den. So that afternoon, we both picked up a hammer for the first time and got to work.
(1 day later) IT RAINS so we go find more supplies in Bunnings, Betta Paint and Lightings and brainstorm (while eating lamingtons). So far we have the walls up and no floor and no roof either, so that means that we will have a very muddy floor to work on.
(2 weeks later) Today has been the first day that has not rained but......I HAVE SOCCER TRAINING NOOOO.... but the very muddy floor will dry up. See you later I have to go to soccer training.
It’s 2 weeks till christmas holidays and I’m so excited but nervous too, we have to finish the den before christmas. So we need to get working. We have the main structure up and just need to paint everything and make the inside look nice. I’m so excited, today Jake is painting the outside and I’m painting the inside.
It just went bang, just like that. There was a gust of wind and our den just flipped over bang. Luckily nothing was damaged. Although now we have to work out how to make it more sturdy. But most important, how are we going to flip it over?
(6 days later) We are going to hammer and drill this time but the problem is the den is so heavy and Jake and I have to lift it up. HEAR ME, all by ourselves! Well, if we stand here and scream, nothing will happen. So I think we will lift the den. 1,2,3 heave, yay we lifted the den!
(4 days later) 3 days left. Luckily the painting is done and we just need to finish the inside, like adding photos, putting desks in, putting bean bags down, sliding chairs and putting ... THE CARPET IN. NOOOO.... I have not put the carpet in so thats a big problem. Wait the telephone is ringing blah blah blah blah blah noooooo Jake is going away and he comes back in three days. Ok I have to do this by myself, lucky today is International Women's Day!
(Next day) I have to put the carpet in and order the rest of the stuff. The carpet looks brilliant don’t you think?
On the day Jake comes back we will put those bits and pieces in together and ta-da we are done.
Today's the day where we present our den to our family and friends. Jake and I get dressed up in our best clothes ready for the big reveal. I have some last minute changes to put the bean bags in place. We are DONE. Everyone loves our Den and so do we.
It’s definitely a fabulous way to start the holidays.
